Trinidad Carnival 2026 - Coming Soon

Trinidad Carnival is widely regarded as the greatest show on Earth, and in 2026, I'll be documenting this legendary celebration as the official photographer for [Jamboulay Festival](https://www.facebook.com/JamboulayEvolutionOfJouvert2018). This partnership marks the inaugural launch of Hexaxia Media's event photography division.

Jamboulay isn't just another mas band - they're a cultural institution. Named after Jean-Baptiste Bideau (aka "Jamboulay"), one of the original leaders of the Canboulay riots that gave birth to modern carnival, this band represents the raw, unfiltered spirit of Trinidad's most authentic celebration.

The J'ouvert Experience

J'ouvert (from the French "jour ouvert," meaning "day break") kicks off at 4 AM on February 16th, when Port of Spain transforms into an explosion of mud, paint, powder, and unrestrained joy. This is carnival at its most primal - before the glitz of Pretty Mas, before the elaborate costumes, before the tourist crowds wake up.

I'll be embedded with Jamboulay from the pre-dawn preparation through the sunrise street procession, capturing:

The 3 AM ritual of masqueraders suiting up in their oldest clothes, knowing they'll be unrecognizable within the hour. The first blast of paint hitting the crowd. The moment when thousands of individual revelers become one pulsing, paint-covered mass moving through the streets to the thunderous beat of steel pan and soca.

More Than Just Photos

This project is about documenting cultural heritage through a modern lens. J'ouvert is rebellion, liberation, and pure Caribbean joy condensed into six chaotic hours. Every frame will capture what makes Trinidad Carnival unique - the energy you can't replicate anywhere else in the world.

Beyond J'ouvert, I'll also be documenting Jamboulay's other carnival events and promotions leading up to the main event, building a comprehensive visual story of what it takes to bring a mas band to life.
